Abstract

ABSTRACT The need for electrical energy has become a major requirement for humans. Various ways are done so that the electricity needs can be fulfilled, both in quantity and quality as well as the availability of electricity. One way that can be done is by optimizing the existing generation system or by empowering existing natural resources as much as possible. One of them is using the Wind Energy Permanent Magnet Generator. This generator uses the utilization of permanent magnets as electromagnetic inducers. The amount of use of permanent magnets greatly affects the output produced by both voltage, and the power produced, but on the other hand the use of magnets creates a cogging effect, namely the magnetic attraction to the permeance material (material carrying magnetic flux) which causes the rotor to be difficult to rotate. In order to obtain optimal performance, the simulation test for the design of a permanent magnet generator is done using the MagNet Infolytica Software, which uses the FEM (Finite Element Method) method to calculate or determine the characteristics of the generator made. In this study the design was carried out with variations in the size of the stator geometry, namely in the teeth section and the use of the number of poles. To find out the output results in the form of cogging stresses and torsions it is viewed in terms of teeth size and number of poles. The results of the tests are then analyzed by processing the data and looking at the graph of the resulting stress and the torque coming out of the rotor. The generator with the largest output voltage is in the design of 18 16 pole slots using 11 mm teeth of 204.65 V but the resulting cogging torque is quite large, namely 9.0676, so the optimal design is obtained from cogging torque on the use of 16 poles with 6 mm teeth, with cogging torque 6.6156 Nm and the voltage that is not much different is 196.77 V. The use of a large number of magnetic poles will increase a large voltage output, but also cause a large cogging torque, therefore to minimize cogging torque is by reducing the size of the geometry on the stator, one of them is teeth. Keywords: Generator, Permanent Magnet, Torque, Cogging, Voltage.
