Abstract

ABSTRACT University of Technology Yogyakarta is one of the best private universities in the form of universities in Yogyakarta Special Region Province (DIY). Graduation is one of the assessment items in the accreditation process of an institution of a tertiary institution. In achieving timely graduation, of course there must be a process that must be done because as a way to achieve the objectives to be achieved, namely by the process of learning in individuals. The learning process of students greatly affects the quality of the knowledge contained in him, because if the learning process of a student is ugly, it will be difficult to understand the courses that have been delivered so that students will experience difficulties, both in doing the assignments given by the lecturer and doing the final project. University of Technology Yogyakarta requires every student to arrange their final assignments as one of the graduation requirements. However, there are several obstacles encountered in the preparation of this final project, especially during the guidance process, lecturers usually have their own activities. Often students and lecturers cannot meet due to the lack of time between the two and the student's ignorance of the lecturer schedule, so that the problems in doing the final project cannot be solved immediately. Therefore through the design and manufacture of chatbot applications for system recommendations and final project guidance is expected to help students in the learning process so that students know what needs to be done so as to make students disciplined in the learning process so that educational goals will be more easily achieved. Chatbot acts as a conversation agent that can help students to obtain various academic information. This application was built using the Natural Language Processing (NLP) approach and using Text Mining as reasoning. Text Mining in this system uses tokenizing to break up words, filtering to delete unnecessary words and matching keywords to the database to reply to responses from user input. In this study it can be concluded that this system can facilitate students in getting services or responses for 24 hours in searching for information.
