Abstract

ABSTRACT In the maintenance of freshwater ornamental fish, there are several factors that must be considered such as the pH level of the water, the temperature of the water and the feeding which must be appropriate. Traditionally checking water conditions is carried out routinely by paying attention to water color and odor. This method still lacks accuracy and time efficiency. PH monitoring system, water temperature and feeding automation are needed in this case to increase accuracy of checking water conditions and feeding routines. So in this study water monitoring system, water change and automatic feeding of fish based on internet of things will be designed using a microcontroller equipped with wifi. This tool will be designed to be able to make water changes based on water parameters suitable for ornamental fish, namely the water temperature between 24 ℃ - 28 ℃, and water pH value between 5-9. If the parameters are not suitable, then the water pump will be active until the water level is 10 cm, and automatically open the solenoid water valve to refill to a height of 20 cm. Water condition monitoring and automation of feeding according to schedule using Thingspeak as a server, will be accessed using the Virtuino application that will be accessed by users. Testing the monitoring system of water conditions based on the results of experiments shows that pH sensors, temperature sensors and ultrasonic sensors can detect water conditions and make water changes automatically. The test results from several samples, if the sensor detects a water pH value <5, the water temperature> 30 ℃, then the system succeeds in instructing active water pump to drain water, up to 10 cm the water pump is not active. On reading the 10 cm altitude sensor the solenoid water valve is active and filling the water, up to a height of 20 cm the solenoid water valve is inactive because the parameters of the water condition have been met. The reading data is successfully sent to the Thingspeak server and can be monitored by the user directly on the Virtuino application using an internet connection Keywords: Sensors, Thingspeak, Virtuino
