Abstract

ABSTRAK Technology is growing fast, especially on information and communication technology. With technological devices that are owned, humans can use it as a tool. Modernization has been carried out for watering ornamental plants. It was initially done manually, now in real time. Still, modernization has not yet taken place optimally, namely the absence of a monitoring and control system that is accessed through smartphones. Monitoring and controlling of watering plants based on soil moisture through the ESP8266 based smarphone is one way that can be used in terms of monitoring and controlling plants to remain in good condition. In this study, a tool was designed that can water plants using ESP8266 as the main controller programmed to determine the soil moisture of the plant through Soil Moisture planted on the ground and the results of plant Soil Moisture obtained will be sent to the Thingspeak server and then accessed by users via a smartphone. The test results of monitoring soil moisture via a smartphone based on watering results indicate that Soil Moisture can detect Soil Moisture. The appliance can flush when soil conditions have a humadity of ≥50% and the appliance will stop when the soil moisture condition is <50%. Plant watering tools can be used manually by inputting the on/off command found in the virtuino application when the sensor cannot function. Keywords : ESP8266, Soil Moisture, Thingspeak, Smartphone
