Abstract

The power transformer is an important equipment in the substation, therefore the power transformer is operated according to its age. The power transformer is designed with an ambient temperature of around 20oC but operates at an ambient temperature of 30oC in Indonesia, so the transformer must be adjusted accordingly. The decrease in the life of the transformer is influenced by insulation due to heating from loading and ambient temperature. The research results show that the Transformer 3 unit in Pandean Lamper substation has a load ratio of more than 80% plus the life of the transformer for more than 20 years and based on the total load ratio in the Pandean Lamper substation already nearly 80% so that it is necessary to add a transformer unit with more than power 60 MVA to anticipate damage to the Transformer 3 unit. While for the Ungaran Transformer 3 main substation unit also has a load ratio of close to 80% so reconfiguration is needed. Keywords: Power transformer, loading, ambient temperature, age loss
