Abstract
Augmented Reality is a technology that combines 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional virtual objects into a 3-dimensional real environment and then projects these virtual objects in real time. Children aged 4 to 6 years experience a golden period which is a time when children begin to be sensitive to receive stimuli, so that children are very easy to accept things that are considered new and interesting, at this age it is also very important to teach children about living creatures that are located around them like for example introducing types of animals. Media with the theme of animal recognition for kindergarten students such as books containing pictures of 2-dimensional animals have not been able to attract the interest of children to want to recognize the types of animals. Application of Augmented Reality Animal Recognition for Kindergarten students (TK) was developed based on Android using markers that have been identified 3-dimensional objects of animals, as well as sounds and information from these animals, using Augmented Reality Technology. The making of this application is intended for the introduction of the types of animals sharks, tigers, lions, galimimus, bears to kindergarten students who display 3-dimensional objects and their voices, and the presentation is more innovative using a Smartphone.
