The study entitled "The Analysis of Prefix Sub- Find in Inferno by Dan Brown " is aimed tofind out words withprefix sub- and identify types ofprefix sub structures ofprefix sub- also functions ofprefix sub-found in the novel. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative because the data were analyzed qualitatively. They were analyzed without statisticalprocedure. The data were collected by documentation technique. The data in this research were taken from Dan Brown's novel "Inferno" published in 2013. The writer read the novel and underlined the words which contain prefix sub- with it and classified it into differentfiles according to the types, the structures and the functions. The writer used three steps to analyze the data, reading the novel Inferno by Dan Brown, underlining the words which contain the prefix sub-, putting the words which contain the prefix sub- into thefile. The result ofthis study shows that there arefour types ofwords with prefix sub- with it, there are verbs, adjectives, nouns, and adverbs. Theform ofpreJix subfound in the novel are sub + X = subX, sub + X + ed — subXed, sub + X + ly = subXly, sub + X + ing = subXing sub + X + ence = subXence, sub + X + al — subXal, and sub + X + ive = subXive. There arefourfunctions ofprefix sub-find in the novel which are to describe someone or something situated under or beneath, things that part ofa larger things, someone or something inferior, and something or someone that less than or imperfectly.
