Abstract
Traditional musical instruments become one of the plenty cultures throughout Indonesia, which must be preserved by the younger generation. The lack of knowledge of the younger generation about traditional musical instruments makes them not know that in Indonesia there are many traditional musical instruments, especially Gamelan musical instruments. The lack of use of technology to preserve regional musical instruments also makes many young people not realize any information of Gamelan musical instruments. By utilizing Augmented Reality technology that is applied to the Android platform, the researcher designs and creates an Android application that is used to introduce Gamelan musical instruments. This application displays musical instruments in 3D that appears as Augmented Reality so that 3D objects from musical instruments appear to the real world. The steps taken in making the application are application planning, analysis, making applications using Unity 3D, testing applications and implementing applications to Android-based mobile devices. The result of testing application of the introduction of traditional musical instruments is that the application can run on various Android mobile devices. Based on the results of the test data, it can be concluded that this application can help increasing the knowledge of the younger generation about Gamelan musical instruments.
