Abstract
This final paper entitled “An Analysis of Code Switching Found in My Stupid Boss Film” is intended to find out the types of code switching in My Stupid Boss Film and the functions of code switching in this film. The study was a descriptive qualitative study. The research produced descriptive data in a written form. The object of this study was code switching in My Stupid Boss film. The data was collected by writing the transcript of My Stupid Boss film. After collecting the data, the writer classified data based on the types of code switching and the functions of code switching in this film. The results of analysis were as follows “first, five types of code switching based on Hoffman theory, there were several types of code switching used in My Stupid Boss Film. They were 8 types of intra sentential code switching, 6 inter sentential code switching, 3 establishing continuity from previous speaker type of code switching, and 4 involving changes of pronunciation type of code switching. Second, the functions of code switching in My Stupid Boss film were to 1) explain, 2) respect the speech partner, 3) familiarize themselves, 4) change the situation or humor, 5) demonstrate language ability, 6) show anger, and 7) convince the speech partner.
