Abstract

The objective of this study is to improve speaking skill through role play technique for the tenth grade students of SMK N 1 Pleret in the academic year 2019/2020. The study is Classroom Action Research. The steps of this research were planning, action, observation and reflection. The subject of the research were 32 students of grade tenth at SMK N 1 Pleret. The data of this research were in form of words and numbers. The data were taken from students’ pre-test, interviews of students and teacher, quesioners, the students’ post-test, and observations. The result of this research showed that the students can improve their speaking skill in learning activity. The student of tenth grade of TKJ (Computer and Network Engineering) had also high enthuisiasm and interest in speaking learning activity. In addition, there was an improvement on students’ speaking as it was displayed on students scores who were in poor category can be descreased from pre-test 1 in which there were 11 students to two students only in post test 2. Tujuan pada penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas X di SMK N 1 Pleret pada tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 32 siswa di SMK N 1 Pleret. Data pada penelitian ini berupa kata-kata dan angka. Data diambil dari pre-test siswa, wawancara terhadap guru dan siswa, pemberian kuisoner, post-test siswa dan obeservasi. Hasil pada penelitian ini siswa dapat meningkatkan kemampan berbicara pada saat pembelajaran. Siswa juga memiliki antusias yang tinggi dan tertarik dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Selain itu peningkatan siswa dalam berbicara juga dapat dilihat dari nilai siswa yang masuk dalam kategori paling rendah dapat dikurangi pada pre-test 1 terdapat 11 siswa, post-test 1 terdapat enam siswa dan pada post-test 2 terdapat dua siswa.
