Abstract

Making herbal medicine in the community is still relatively traditional and manual, especially in its mixing section. Therefore, the author made a Miniature Batch Processing PLC (Programmable Logic Control) for various needs, such as the beverage industry, herbal medicine, to mix recipes that have been prepared and previously set up automatically. In the filling and stirring process in the herbal beverage industry controlled by a PLC equipped with a Human Machine Interface facilitates user interaction with the machine, increase production effectiveness, increase processing speed, and provide information in real-time compared with manual method. This miniature batch processing uses PLC Nano V4 Microcontroller is a control system for the production of home automation with a maximum voltage of 24V. Nano V4 can also be connected to a smartphone using Modbus HMI as a controller if an error occurs then the system on the HMI. Controlled systems include pumps, stirring motors, heaters, temperature sensors, high-level water sensors, low-level water sensors, and flowmeters. The results of performance testing on the automatic control system is ≤ 5%, where the flowmeter 1 has an average error of 3.4% with an accumulation counter 333 and a flowmeter 2 has an average error of 0.8% with an accumulation counter 341 and an average temperature sensor error of 0.17%.
