Abstract

Indonesia has a marine area of 2/3 of the whole of Indonesia, while sea waves are a renewable energy source. However, the use of Indonesian marine is still not optimum at the Wave Power Power plant. The village of Pasir is located in the District of Ayah, Kebumen Regency, Central Java. It is a village located in the South Coast of Java Island far from the PLN electricity source. This Final Project discusses the study of the potential of ocean wave energy converted into electrical energy using the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) system on the South Coast of Kebumen Regency. This system was chosen because many studies stated that the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) system is a sea wave conversion technique that has many advantages compared to the others. Component design of the Oscillating Water Column (OWC), which uses a size of 6x6 meters, 8 Sudu Turbine Turbines, and a 2.5MW PMG type generator. From the results of the power calculation using the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) component when the low sea wave Kebumen South Coast rotates the generator on average not more than 100rpm the generator power drop, while the high sea wave could rotate the generator with a rotation of more than 600rpm, i.e., power expended 2, 4MW / unit. Sea Wave Power Plant uses the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) if it is implemented on the South Coast of Kebumen, it can only be used as a supplying power plant.
