Abstract
Corn is the third most important food crop in the world after wheat and rice. Corn kernels are the staple food of most of the African population and some regions in Indonesia, besides corn is also a main ingredient in the animal feed industry. Corn drying is a form of handling fungal attacks. If drying process is not carried out postharvest, corn often faces fungal contamination problems which can be dangerous if it is consumed in excess. Based on the matter, the authors designed an automatic corn dryer using the Fuzzy PID method. Fuzzy inputs are error and delta error, both inputs will be processed by fuzification, system inference, and defuzzification to get the variable values of Kp, Ki and Kd. The Kp, Ki, and Kd values will be processed by the PID to determine the pulse dimmer value variable as a PWM control element of the heating element and maintain the heat temperature in the corn drying chamber in accordance with the desired SetPoint. The results of the study showed the parameters value of control response of steady state error of 0.55%, overshoot of 13.22%, settling time for 22 minutes, rise time for 7 minutes, delay time for 4 minutes.
