Abstract

In the activity of sending and receiving messages many things are written on the contents of the message both public text and confidential text. All texts are apparently still stored in advance by the operator or the so-called Short Message Service Center (SMSC) before sending to the recipient, making security of messages intended only to recipients readable by third parties or who can access the Short Message Service Center (SMSC). For that we need a system that makes text that can be read (plain text) into a code that cannot be read (cipher text). There are several things you can do to make the code and one of them is using text encryption. And to read text that has been encrypted, decrypted text is used to change the text in the form of code into readable text. There are several types of algorithms used in performing encryption and decryption, one of which is the blowfish algorithm and the RC6 algorithm. This paper discusses the two algorithms and compares the level of security and speed in the process of encryption and decryption of text with a system based on mobile (Android). The goal is that users can find out the comparison of security and speed of the two algorithms in the process of encryption and decryption of short message service (SMS). By comparison the two algorithms produce the amount of text obtained during encryption on average with an amount of 0.60% greater than the RC6 algorithm compared to the Blowfish algorithm. And the average time generated is 0.0106 for the Blowfish algorithm and 0.0094 for the RC6 algorithm, so the RC6 algorithm processes faster than the Blowfish algorithm.
