Abstract
Semaphore is a form of sign language in long distance communication using flags. Semaphore learning at this time still uses conventional media in the form of books or human movements that are exhibited directly. In this study the authors conducted a research that is how to design applications that use Augmented Reality technology as a new method in learning semaphores that is more interactive. Currently the learning media combined from print and computer technology can be realized with Augmented Reality technology media. The purpose of this research is to make it easier to memorize the Semaphore cipher movement using Augmented Reality technology. Augmented Reality is an attempt to merge the real world and virtual world through a particular program device so that the boundary between the two is very thin. Augmented Reality technology can be used as a semaphore cipher learning media because the learning process about semaphore ciphers is still through conventional media such as books, pictures or teaching aids. The advantage of Augmented Reality is an attractive visual display, because it can display 3D objects and their animations that seem to exist in a real environment. In this study UNITY Game Engine is used to build Android-based applications and Vuforia SDK so that applications built can be applications with Augmented Reality technology. Keywords: Augmented Reality, Learning Media, Scouts, Semaphore, 3D, Android
