Abstract

The database is a repository of data and information. The entire system stores its data in the database, so that the contents of the data stored should be kept in strict secret and security. To maintain the security of the database required a method, the method is Cryptography. Computer Based Test (CBT) system generally process the user data, question, answer, and test result data is stored into the database, so that data stored in the database need to be guaranteed on its security and secrecy. To maintain the confidentiality and security of data on a system built, then the symmetric cryptographic algorithms is applied to the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Cryptographic algorithms are divided into two symmetric algorithms and asymmetric algorithms. One example of a symmetric algorithm is AES. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a cryptographic algorithm that can be used for securing data. The AES algorithm is a symmetric blokchipertext which can encrypt (encipher) and decrypt (decipher) information. Encryption changes data that cannot be read anymore called ciphertext; on the contrary, decryption is the reverse change of the ciphertext data, into a form that we know as the original plaintext.The system is built using the PHP programming language and it uses the MySQLi database. The data inputed on the database is successfully encrypted, so it cannot be read and understood by the uninterest parties, the data is then described to be displayed on the report.
