Abstract

Many printer brands that are available on the market sometimes will make dilemma for buyers. The length of the process in choosing a printer that suits your needs will divert the buying and selling process, moreover if the shop is crowded. Generally, buyers will come to the store and choose a printer that suits their needs and costs. The seller will provide suggestions or responses to the printer buyer according to the buyer desired requirements. To assist printer recommendation to be purchased in order it does not require a long time, a system that supports the selection of printers is needed in accordance with the requirements submitted by the buyer. This study aims to implement a method that can recommend printer based on requirements selected by the prospective buyers. In this study the author used the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. SAW method is a method used to find optimal alternatives from a number of alternatives with predetermined requirement. The SAW method known as the weighted sum method requires the decision maker to determine the weight for each attribute or criteria to support the system. The data that need to be entered into the system is the printer specification data, such as price, type of printer, print resolution, print speed in black and white and color, configuration and warranty. To build a system, this study is using the programming language PHP, HTML and MySQL as a database. The output produced by the system consists of the most approved printers based on criteria required by the buyer. The result of this study is a system that can provide printer recommendations which matches the criteria selected by prospective buyers, so that, the printer selection process does not require a long time.
