Abstract

This final paper is about slang language. The objectives of this final paper are to find out the slang that contained in Night School movie, they are Literature Criticism Slang, Public House Slang, Public School and Universities Slang, also the Society Slang. And to analyse each slang language, this paper using Eric Partridge’s theory. In this final paper, the researcher tries to explore slang words and phrases, types of the slang language, the meaning of each slang that found in this movie and the dominant of those slang language to the movie. This final paper is descriptive qualitative method because the data are expressions of slang language in Night School movie. The researcher uses the note taking technique because most of data are taken from the script. After collecting the sentences that contain slang language, the researcher tries to analyze them by using critical discourse analysis theory. Based on the analysis, there are three results that the researcher found in Night School movie. The writer concludes that slang are used in this movie can be classified into four types. They are consist of Literature Criticism Slang with one data or 0.6%, the second type slang is Public House Slang with fifty one data or 29%, next is Public School and Universities Slang with eight data or 4%, and the last type is Society Slang with one hundred and seventeen data or 66%. From those slang, we can see that the Society slang is the most dominant slang that used in Night School movie. Key words: slang, types of slang, the meaning of slang, Night School movie
