The development of global tourism is advancing rapidly, including in Indonesia. The Special Region of Yogyakarta is one of the country’s most famous tourist destinations. To support its tourism activities, Yogyakarta has 143 star hotels and 1,475 non-star hotels, according to Yogyakarta’s Central Bureau of Statistics in 2018. Additionally, since the emergence of the so-called Islamic or sharia-compliant hotels in 1990s, many Muslim as well as non-Muslim tourists began to switch from public hotels to sharia-compliant hotels. The main object in this report is the record of the writer’s activities in applying her English skills during her internship at the Musafira Syariah Hotel for one month in February 2020. However, in actuality, several obstacles were found which resulted in the ineffectiveness of the writer’s efforts in practicing her English skills. This report, entitled Internship Report at Hotel Musafira Syariah, serves as the writer’s final assignment. The method used in making this report is the qualitative descriptive procedure, which produces descriptive data. The results of this internship show that the writer experienced several obstacles in practicing her English skills. However, the writer took the initiative to help check the hotel and guest administration data, as well as to help calculate the hotel’s tax data, and to finally enter them into the computer database. All of the applications used for these efforts were in English. Keywords: tourism, internship, hotel, sharia
