Abstract
Temple tourism is a tourism destination that cannot be separated from Indonesia. There are so many tourist destinations that can be found in Indonesia which are rich in culture, history and others. The temple is a tourist destination that is categorized into religious tourism and also history in it. When talking about temples in Indonesia, people will usually immediately look to Borobudur temple or Prambanan temple, even though there are so many temple complexes whose places and history are quite interesting to explore more deeply. Muaro Jambi bathing complex is a tourist destination that is not widely known by people. This temple complex is a temple that has the largest area in Southeast Asia, and according to researchers that this temple has a connection with Borobudur temple which is known to be the origin of Borobudur. However, it is unfortunate that the Muaro Jambi temple is not well known by many people due to several factors ranging from the facilities provided by the government and the lack of awareness of the local community to build the temple complex into a great tourist destination. Data collection in this study was carried out based on observations and direct interviews with community leaders who are believed to be the head of the Muaro Jambi temple. The main purpose of this research is to help disseminate tourist destinations that are less well known to the public, besides this research is also intended to raise awareness of the community especially those who live around tourist destinations to understand how important their role is in the development of a tourist destination.
