Abstract
Network is necessary in a company. It has an important role to help the performance of the units. This network is often used in corporate or institutional units to share resources so that each unit can communicate data quickly. The development of a stable network system does not guarantee that the network is free from disruptions that can cause the operational performance of the company or institution to be disrupted. The number of computer network users who lack understanding in handling local network damage results in computer users or an institution requiring experts to repair damage that occurs on the local network. In this case experts who can repair are not always ready when the trouble occurs, so we need an expert system to help find out the damage and how to handle it. This expert system application is created to assist computer network users in detecting a network damage that is experienced along with repair solutions. The method used in the development of this expert system is the Certainty Factor method using Forward Chaining inference. Keywords: Expert System, LAN Network, Forward Chaining, Certainty Factor
