Abstract

This study aims to determine how to design an automatic planting media watering system using a soil moisture sensor for Android-based plant care. Current technological developments provide many roles in all aspects of human life, one of which is in the field of plant care. Many problems are encountered in caring for large amounts of plants, such as ineffective watering the plants and water capacity in the planting medium. With this problem, a system has been designed that can perform automatic watering of planting media based on predetermined soil moisture. This program is designed based on Android which is flexible to use. The hardware device used is the Soil Moisture Sensor which can detect moisture in the soil, then reads the resistance to get the moisture level value, and the microcontroller uses NodeMCU which is already equipped with the WIFI ESP8266 module inside. The results of this study explain that the use of the Soil Moisture Sensor helps in calculating soil moisture so that the accuracy of the watering pump performance runs well and provides accurate information to users. This study helps the user in monitoring and controlling soil moisture in plants so as to save time and effort in watering plants that can. reduce the risk of dry plant soil causing plant death.
