Abstract
Poor Student Assistance (BSM) is national program which aims to remove barriers for poor students from participating in school by helping poor students get access to proper education services, preventing dropouts, attracting poor students to return to school, helping students meet their needs in learning activities, supporting the Nine-Year Compulsory Basic Education program (even to the upper secondary level), as well as helping the smooth running of school programs, of course by sorting out the data of students who deserve assistance based on criteria determined by Dinas. SMA Muhammadiyah Pleret is one of the users of the National Program. The selection and determination of assistance for poor students based on certain criteria is a complex process. There are many opportunities for this selection process to make wrong decisions because the student selection process is based on subjectivity. This means that it is highly likely that the selected poor students do not reach the desired standards and do not find the best candidates. Therefore, it is necessary to design and build a Decision Support System that can provide the best candidate selection for aid recipients so that they can find out who is eligible for such assistance. This research uses the method Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) to find the weight value of each alternative then the ranking process. The results obtained from the ranking process are then used as a suitable recommendation for assistance. Keywords: SPK, Help of Poor Students, Simple Additive Weighting (SAW)
