Abstract
Figurative language is language which employs various figures. This research is a descriptive qualitative analysis study where the researcher tries to find out the types of figurative language in Bruno Mars’s Song Lyrics. The purpose of this study is to find the contextual meaning and the type of figurative language used in Bruno Mars’s song lyrics. To support the analysis, the writer used some types of figurative language and other related references were used. There were also some related theories about figurative language used to support the analysis. The writer used descriptive qualitative methods to classify and analyze the lyrics. This research found several findings of figurative language on it. There are four types of figurative language that are used in the song lyric, they are simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. The last is the dominant type of figurative language that is hyperbole. Keywords: Bruno Mars, figurative language, song lyric.
