Abstract

ABSTRACT Cigarettes are one of the addictive substances that can cause health hazards for individuals and society when used. It is known that cigarettes are processed tobacco wrapped including cigars or other forms produced from plants Nicotiana tabacum, Nicotiana rustica and other species or synthesis containing nicotine and tar with or without additional ingredients. Eliminating smoking habits in Indonesian society is not easy. Even smoking has been done by teenagers who are still sitting on the school bench. On the other hand, the content in cigarettes proved harmful to the body's health to cause death. Cigarettes have various toxins from the chemicals they contain, the main dangers of smoking for health are carcinogen toxins and carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke. Both substances will be inhaled by the respiratory tract, which can eventually trigger organ damage and decreased function of the heart system's organs, blood vessels, and breathing. To overcome this, the Final Task aims to design and create a prototype for cigarette smoke detection tool in the Study Room and Toilet in schools using MQ-2 sensors. The tool is designed to detect smoke and can be accessed through an android application that provides user interfaces in room conditions and smoke thickness and provides notification. On the other hand, if there is smoking activity in the room, embedded DC fans in each room aim to emit smoke to become airworthy of breathing. It will make it easier for school guards to monitor the school environment. Thus, this tool has detected cigarette smoke with a minimum resistance of 60ppm and a maximum of 100ppm, accuracy and precision value percentage of Study Room and Toilet by 100% each. Keywords: Cigarettes, Cigarette Smoke, MQ-2, Application
