Abstract

ABSTRACT The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is a country that adheres to the principles of democracy. The hallmark of democracy is the election of leaders which is carried out directly through voting or the majority of votes, including in the election of the student council president. The voting usually uses ballots provided by the committee. In addition, there are several weaknesses in voting using ballot papers, including the slow process of counting votes which takes a long time and the inaccuracy of the results of the vote count because the voting process is carried out by punching ballots so that there is often debate about the validity of the ballot papers. One of the technologies that can solve the voting problem is the cloud firestore technology which is applied to the e-voting system. In designing the evoting system that applies cloud firestore technology, Codegniter, Android, Application Programming Interface (API), and MySQL are used frameworks as the database. The research results from the combination of several technologies above resulted in an e-voting system for the chairman of the OSIS and the voting results can be known in real time and can directly determine the winner once the voting has been held. It is hoped that the use of e-voting that applies cloud firestore technology can overcome some unwanted things in the election process and improve accessibility, transparency, effectiveness and time efficiency during the election process.
