Abstract
ABSTRACT In secondary schools, especially vocational, there are several majors that usually be chosen by prospective students. Environmental influence factors can influence prospective students to take majors that are not in accordance with their interests and abilities. Inappropriate pointing results in difficulty aligning abilities and interests. Appropriate assignment and in accordance with the abilities and interests of students are needed. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of recommending students to choose a major according to their interests and values. The method used in this decision support system is the Simple Multy Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) based on the criteria required by the user. The criteria used to recommend majors use scores and basic knowledge questions, which will be calculated using the SMART Method. So that in this study, this system can classify prospective student majors by considering the abilities and interests of a department. Making a decision support system using the programming language PHP and MySQL as data storage media. The results of this study are to produce a department concentration decision support system using the SMART method according to the grouping criteria. There are three major concentrations, namely Clothing, Network Computer Engineering (TKJ), and Visual Communication Design.
