Abstract

Lahan pascatambang batubara merupakan area bekas pertambangan batubara yang seharusnya direklamasi atau revegetasi dengan dikembalikan kebentuk awalnya, yaitu hutan. Samarinda memiliki luas wilayah 71.740 ha dan memiliki izin pertambangan seluas 50.742 ha sedangkan yang direklamasi hanya 196 ha. Kerusakan lingkungan, dampak sosial dan ekonomi bagi sekitar juga semakin banyak, seiring berkembangnya lahan pascatambang yang tidak direklamasi hingga memakan korban jiwa. Berdasarkan permasalahan ini, penting adanya edukasi terkait reklamasi yang difasilitasi dengan pusat studi dan konservasi untuk membantu keberlanjutan hutan. Sehingga muncul gagasan untuk merancang Samarinda Rainforest Tropicarium sebagai area konservasi dan penelitian pengolahan lahan pascatambang serta hutan hujan. Biomorphic Architecture dipilih sebagai pendekatan desain yang diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada dengan menyelaraskan antara arsitektur dan alam. Strategi yang digunakan sesuai dengan prinsip biomorphic architecture diantaranya growth (pertumbuhan), geomorphic considental (pertimbangan geomorfik), environmental economic (ekonomi lingkungan), dan fluidity in design (fluiditas dalam desain). Hasil rancangan Samarinda Rainforest Tropicarium menerapkan voronoi structure pada massa bangunan sebagai penerapan prinsip geomorphic considental. Struktur Voronoi ini terinspirasi dari sayap capung yang memiliki kekuatan struktur yang ringan. Pengelolaan ruang dan aktivitas yang terjadi dalam bangunan didesain dengan prinsip growth dan environmental economic. Selain itu, melalui prinsip form follow flow dengan merespon kontur dapat mewujudkan prinsip fluidity dan building as nature. Sehingga melalui beberapa strategi desain tersebut tercipta desain bangunan Samarinda Rainforest Tropicarium yang dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada dan juga dapat menjadi bangunan yang menyatu dengan alam. Kata kunci: Biomorphic Architecture, Pascatambang, Rainforest, Samarinda, Tropicarium Post-coal mining land is an area previously used for coal mining that should be reclaimed or revegetated by returning it to its original contour, that is, forest. Samarinda has an area of 71,740 ha, and the area permited for mining is 50,742 ha. However, the reclamation area is only 196 ha. This condition has caused a lot of environmental damage as well as social and economic impatcs for its suroundings, along with the expanding post-mining land that has not been reclaimed, which results in casualties. Regarding this problem, it is important to have an education related to reclamation by providing facilities like study and conservation center in order to maintain the forest sustainability. Therefore, there is an udea of desigining Samarinda Rainforest Tropicarium as a conservation and research area for post-mining land and rainforest management. This research used Biomorphic Architecture as a design approach to solve the existing problems by harmonizing architecture and nature. The strategy used was in accordance with the principles of Biomorphic Architecture, namely growth, geomorphic considental, environmental economics, and fluidity in design. The result of Samarinda Rainforest Tropicarium design applies voronoi structure to the building mass as the application of geomorphic considental. Voronoi structure is inspired by dragonfly wings that have lightweight structural strength. Space and activity management in the building was designed using growth and environmental economic principles. Additionally, through “form follow flow” principle by responding to the countour, the principle of fluidity and building as nature can be applied. It is expected that by carrying out those design strategies, the design of Samarinda Rainforest Tropicarium is able to solve the existing problems and to become a building that closes to the nature.
