Abstract

ABSTRACT Rice is the staple food of the Indonesian people. Rice in Indonesia has several types including rojo catfish, pandan wangi and IR64. IR64 rice is quite popular among the middle to lower class. This is because the price is cheap. With prices that are cheap and in demand in the middle to lower market, traders often commit fraud by mixing bad quality with good quality. This is intended to equalize the price between poor quality and good quality rice. The basic quality that distinguishes good rice is the color of the rice. Black to gray or yellowish rice color is poor quality while pure white is good quality. The prototype for detecting the quality of rice using a TCS 34725 color sensor based on artificial neural networks displayed via telegram was made to perform a classification that could distinguish good rice. This prototype utilizes a telegram and is equipped with a rechargeable battery for flexibility in use, which can be done remotely. From the test results that have been done, the prototype can work well and get detection success which includes accuracy, precision and sensitivity above 80%.
