This final paper talks about the code-mixing and code-switching based on the Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s Perawan Remaja dalam Cengkeralam Militer ‘Catatan Pulau Buru’. This research is linguistic study of code-mixing and codeswitching of which the main purposes are to explain (1) the factors of code-mixing and code-switching, (2) the contexts of code-mixing and code-switching, (3) the context of Buru as the setting of code-mixing and code-switching, (4) the readers think about code-mixing and code switching. This research is based on holistic qualitative method as type of research which focuses on objective, generative, and affective point. The objective point explains with question of factors and the context of code-mixing and codeswitching, generative point of holistic method explains with the contexts of Buru as the setting of it, the affective point explains with question of readers think about the code-mixing and code-switching in the book. The primary data takes from the Pramoedya’s book and simple interview with the readers. The data are about the conversation which shows code-mixing and code-switching. This final paper uses some theories: the sociolinguistic, choosing a code, code choice, codemixing, and code-switching, pragmatic context and some approaches to study of linguistic context. The factor of code-mixing and code-switching is analyzed with pragmatic context; the context of code-mixing and code-switching is analyzed with mnemonic ‘SPEAKING’ by Dell Hymes; the context of Buru as the setting find in the text of book; and readers’ opinion. There are some findings after analyses the data. 1) Code-mixing and codeswitching happens in three forms of language: word, phrase, and sentences. The words contains of noun, verb, and adjective categories. The phrase contains of adjective phrase and noun phrase categories. The sentence contains of interrogative, declarative, and imperative categories. 2) The factors that make them have to mix or switch their language because they want to create good relationship and break of suspicious feeling. 3) The contexts of Buru as setting involve the participants who usually is native and immigrant to achieve certain purpose. They act in polite and good manner for asking, requesting, or give command. 4) The history make native becomes bilingual and monolingual. 5) The readers think that code-mixing and code-switching is good to give the power of book.
