Abstract
DESIGNING A BOOK RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM USING THE COLLABORATIVE FILTERING METHOD HARI SUSILO Informatics Department, Faculty Of Science and Technology University of Technology Yogyakarta North Ringroad St., Jombor, Sleman Yogyakarta E-mail : hariprasbharapacitan@gmail.com ABSTRACT Books, with their various and a numerous amount, is a problem for book readers. One of the problems that arise is when the reader has difficulty deciding which book to read next. The solution to this problem is to implement a book recommendation system that can assist in providing book recommendations to readers. The collaborative filtering method was chosen as the recommendation system method applied to this book's recommendation system because it provides recommendation results based on the similarity value between books. Users will be more interested in books that have the same similarity aspect. In Supporting the teaching and learning process, library learning media and supporting books are provided to meet the needs of students to add insight and knowledge. Every year the collection of books increases to meet the needs of students and teaching staff. The addition of books to add to the book collection on the bookshelf will make it difficult for library members to find the references. In order to increase library services, a Book Recommendation System Design Using Collaborating Filtering Method was made, using the programming language Embarcadero XE7 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as a database. The recommendation system is a technique for dealing with various problems with large amounts of information or products. The available features include book lists, search for book titles according to numbering, and suggestions for book selection.
