Abstract
NOVI INDRA SETIAWAN Department of Informatics, Faculty of Science & Technology University of Technology Yogyakarta North Ringroad St., Jombor Sleman Yogyakarta E-Mail: noviindrasetiawan.utama@gmail.com ABSTRACT Rice diseases and pests are very troubling for rice farmers. Many factors can cause the rice to be exposed to diseases and pests, from environmental factors to natural enemies of the rice itself. By consulting directly with rice experts, people will undoubtedly get an accurate answer. However, consulting directly with a rice expert requires a particular procedure. In addition, the Dinas Pertanian and the UPTD Balai Proteksi Tanaman Pertanian are of course limited in each city. For this reason, it is necessary to create a system that can help rice farmers, agricultural students and all those who need information on diseases and pests of rice and identify types of diseases and pests of rice independently. The expert system built is used to transfer expertise from experts to computers, not to replace the position of an expert. In building this expert system, the author uses the forward chaining method in the inference process and the certainty factor method to calculate the confidence value. Furthermore, the expert system built can support changes in knowledge data and inference data to become more dynamic.
