Abstract
In addition to being based on real-life stories, a literary work can also be imagined as it was done by J. K. Rowling, the author of the famous novel Harry Potter. The novel tells the story of a boy named Harry Potter and the magical phenomena that occur around him. Although based on imagination, the spell words in the novel are actually meaningful. They come from several languages and are combined in such a way. Therefore, the writer decided to analyze the word-formation / morphological processes of the spelling words in the novel. This research has two objectives. The first objective is to see all the spell words used in the Harry Potter novel and their meanings. The second objective is to find out the function of the spell words. Based on the analysis, the writer concludes that approximately thirty-five spell words are in the Harry Potter novel. These spell words have their own function and effect, whether to help or annoy humans, classified into fourteen universal functions. The process of forming a mantra word can be analyzed morphologically. Almost all mantra words are loanwords from various languages. Some of them are taken purely, while the rest are modified by other morphological processes such as back trimmings, ridges, back-formation, blending, compounding, affixation, modification, and deletion. Keywords: Harry Potter Novel, Morphology, Semantic, Spell Words Selain didasarkan pada kisah kehidupan nyata, sebuah karya sastra juga bisa dibayangkan seperti yang dilakukan oleh J. K. Rowling, pengarang novel terkenal Harry Potter. Novel tersebut menceritakan tentang seorang anak laki-laki bernama Harry Potter dan fenomena magis yang terjadi di sekitarnya. Meski berdasarkan imajinasi, kata-kata mantra dalam novel ini sebenarnya bermakna. Mereka berasal dari beberapa bahasa dan digabungkan sedemikian rupa. Oleh karena itu, penulis memutuskan untuk menganalisis pembentukan kata / proses morfologi dari ejaan kata dalam novel. Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan. Tujuan pertama adalah melihat semua kata mantra yang digunakan dalam novel Harry Potter dan artinya. Tujuan kedua adalah mengetahui fungsi kata-kata ejaan. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa ada sekitar tiga puluh lima kata mantra dalam novel Harry Potter. Kata-kata ejaan ini memiliki fungsi dan efeknya sendiri, baik untuk membantu atau mengganggu manusia, yang dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi empat belas fungsi universal. Proses pembentukan kata mantra dapat dianalisis secara morfologis. Hampir semua kata mantra adalah kata pinjaman dari berbagai bahasa. Beberapa di antaranya diambil murni, sedangkan sisanya dimodifikasi oleh proses morfologi lain seperti back trimmings, ridges, back formation, pencampuran, peracikan, penempelan, modifikasi, dan penghapusan.
