Abstract
This study discusses two problems. The first problem is to observe the author's worldview in The Fault in Our Stars novel. The second problem is to observe what influenced the author's worldview in creating his novel. This study is qualitative research, which means that the data is collected from non-numeric data such as text, video, or audio to understand concepts, opinions, or experiences better. This study also refers to a novel entitled “The Fault in Our Stars,” used as evidence for the author's expression of his worldview in the novel. This study uses a genetic structuralism approach and worldview theory to support the analysis. The results of this study are 1) Green's worldview in The Fault in Our Stars novel, which includes family, god, life, and death, 2) two factors that influenced Green's worldview in the novel is his work experience as a student pastor at a children hospital and inspired by his friend named Esther who has cancer. From the study results, it can be concluded that Green's social situation when creating his novel influenced his worldview in the novel The Fault in Our Stars. Keywords: Author, Evidence, Factors, John Green, Novel Penelitian ini membahas dua masalah. Masalah pertama adalah mengamati pandangan dunia pengarang dalam novel The Fault in Our Stars. Masalah kedua adalah mengamati apa yang mempengaruhi pandangan dunia pengarang dalam menciptakan novelnya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, yang berarti bahwa data dikumpulkan dari data non-numerik seperti teks, video, atau audio untuk lebih memahami konsep, opini, atau pengalaman. Penelitian ini juga mengacu pada sebuah novel berjudul The Fault in Our Stars yang dijadikan sebagai bukti bahwa penulis mengungkapkan pandangan dunianya dalam novelnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan strukturalisme genetik dan teori pandangan dunia untuk mendukung analisis. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah 1) pandangan dunia Green dalam novel The Fault in Our Stars yang meliputi keluarga, tuhan, hidup dan mati, 2) Dua faktor yang mempengaruhi pandangan dunia Green dalam novel tersebut adalah pengalaman kerjanya sebagai pendeta mahasiswa di sebuah rumah sakit anak dan terinspirasi oleh temannya bernama Esther yang menderita kanker. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa situasi sosial Green saat membuat novelnya mempengaruhi pandangan dunianya dalam novel The Fault in Our Stars.
