Abstract
This study entitled An Analysis of English Passive Voice Found in the Novel Divergent by Veronica Roth aims to find out sentence types using passive voice and find out the highest frequency of sentences using passive voice. This research belongs to qualitative research because the data are not analyzed using statistical procedures, and the data are taken from a novel. The writer used the documentation technique because the data were from a novel. The writer analyzed data in three steps, collecting data, data display, and conclusion. The writer made some tables and put the data into some classification based on the sentence type of passive voice to answer questions in the problem formulation, and the writer drew a conclusion. The research finding shows two types of sentences using passive voice: declarative sentences and interrogative sentences. The highest frequency of sentences using passive voice is a declarative sentence, 90%, followed by an interrogative sentence, 10%. Keywords: declarative sentence, interrogative sentence, novel, passive voice Penelitian yang berjudul Analisa Kalimat Pasif yang di Temukan Dalam Novel Diverget karya Veronica Roth ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis kalimat yang menggunakan kalimat pasif dan untuk mengetahui frekuensi tertinggi dari kalimat yang menggunakan kalimat pasif. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif karena datanya tidak dianalisis dengan menggunakan prosedur statistik dan data ini diambil dari novel. Penulis menggunakan teknik dokumentasi karena datanya berasal dari teks yang penulis analisis novelnya. Penulis menganalisis data dalam tiga langkah yaitu, mengumpulkan data, pengelompokan data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Penulis membuat beberapa tabel dan memasukkan data ke dalam klasifikasi berdasarkan jenis kalimat pasif untuk menjawab pertanyaan dalam rumusan masalah. Lalu, penulis menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada dua jenis kalimat yang menggunakan kalimat bentuk pasif yaitu kalimat deklaratif dan kalimat tanya. Frekuensi kalimat yang menggunakan kalimat pasif tertinggi adalah kalimat deklaratif, 90%, diikuti kalimat tanya, 10%. Kata kunci: kalimat deklaratif, kalimat pasif, novel, kalimat tanya
