Abstract
This research discusses two problems; the first problem is friendship in Arn: the Knight Templar movie. Arn and Saladin can become friends even though in an impossible situation because they are on the opposite sides in the holy war or Crusades. The second problem is the trust inside the friendship in Arn: the Knight Templar movie. They can trust each other although they are on opposite sides. This study uses a psychoanalysis approach in which this method uses the psychological side of the research object. It can be observed through the characters' behavior, how the characters act, and the condition of the characters being studied. This paper examines friendship and trust in the Arn: the Knight Templar movie. This study uses Aristotle's theory about friendship divided into three types: friendship by need, enjoyment, and transactional friendship. In addition, this paper also uses the theory of Karen Jones about trust, which is also divided into three types. The types of trust, according to Karen Jones are, trust because of vulnerability to others, trust when someone forgoes his search, and normatively trust. The research result is that friendship can be established anytime and anywhere, regardless of each person's background. Keywords: friendship, the main character, psychoanalysis, trust Penelitian ini membahas dua masalah, masalah pertama adalah persahabatan dalam film Arn: the Knight Templar. Arn dan Saladin bisa menjadi teman meskipun dalam situasi yang tidak memungkinkan karena mereka berada di pihak yang berlawanan dalam perang suci atau Perang Salib. Masalah kedua adalah kepercayaan dalam persahabatan dalam film Arn: the Knight Templar. Mereka bisa saling percaya meskipun mereka berada di sisi yang berlawanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikoanalisis dimana metode ini menggunakan sisi psikologis dari objek penelitian. Hal ini dapat diamati melalui perilaku tokoh, cara tokoh bertindak, dan kondisi tokoh yang diteliti. Tulisan ini mengkaji tentang persahabatan dan kepercayaan dalam film Arn: the Knight Templar. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Aristoteles tentang persahabatan yang terbagi menjadi tiga jenis, yaitu persahabatan berdasarkan kebutuhan, kenikmatan, dan persahabatan transaksional. Selain itu, tulisan ini juga menggunakan teori Karen Jones tentang kepercayaan yang juga dibagi menjadi tiga jenis. Jenis-jenis kepercayaan menurut Karen Jones adalah, kepercayaan karena kerentanan terhadap orang lain, kepercayaan ketika seseorang melupakan pencariannya, dan kepercayaan secara normatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah persahabatan dapat terjalin kapan saja dan dimana saja, terlepas dari latar belakang masing-masing orang.
