Abstract

Abstrak: Kota Sorong sebagai salah satu wilayah di Indonesia timur, khususnya wilayah Provinsi Papua Barat yang memiliki posisi geografs sangat strategis di ujung barat daya Pulau Papua. Posisi ini membuat Kota Sorong berada pada persilangan jalur transportasi dan perdagangan baik untuk wilayah bagian utara maupun bagian selatan Indonesia yang ingin terhubung dengan berbagai wilayah di Pulau Papua. Daerah Kota Sorong pun sangat kaya akan potensi budaya dengan keberagaman suku yang menetap di kota Sorong dan menjadi warna tersendiri bagi pengembangan budaya yang ada. Seperti ketersediaan infrastruktur transportasi yang tidak maksimal, sehingga hal ini pun mempengaruhi pertumbuhan ekonomi kota Sorong yang kurang tinggi. Potensi budaya Kota Sorong pun mulai terpengaruh bangunan gaya kekinian dan modern, seperti beberapa bangunan publik dan bangunan pemerintah. Untuk mencapai itu, salah satu penentu adalah ketersediaan infrastruktur yang baik, seperti Perancangan Terminal Tipe B di Kota Sorong adalah salah satu jawaban dari permasalahan yang ada untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi Kota Sorong. Perancangan Terminal Tipe B ini mengunakan konsep pendekatan Arsitektur Neo Vernakular, yang dipadukan dengan unsur-unsur budaya lokal. Tujuannya adalah untulk menciptakan bangunan modern yang tetap memperhatikan nilai-nilai budaya tradisi setempat. Sorong is one of the cities in eastern Indonesia, especially in the West Papua Province which has a very strategic geographical position at the southwest tip of Papua Island. This position makes Sorong City located at the crossroads of transportation and trade routes for both the northern and southern parts of Indonesia who want to connect with various regions on Papua Island. The Sorong City area is also very rich in cultural potential with the diversity of tribes living there, and becomes its own color for the development of the existing culture. Like the availability of transportation infrastructure that is not optimal, therefore this also affects the economic growth of Sorong City, which is not quite high. The cultural potential of Sorong City has also begun to be influenced by contemporary and modern style buildings, such as several public and government buildings. To achieve that, one of the determinants is the availability of good infrastructure, such as designing a Type-B Terminal in Sorong City which is one of the answers for existing problems to increase the economic growth of Sorong City. The design of the Type-B Terminal uses the concept of a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach, which is combined with elements of local culture. The goal is to create a modern building that still notices the cultural values of local traditions.
