Abstract

This research is conceptual metaphor research using the theory of George Lakoff and Mark Johnson. This study aims to reveal the types of conceptual metaphors and the most dominant type in the TV series Siren seasons 2 and 3. As a data collection technique, the researcher used the Metaphor Procedure Identification technique by Praggjelaz Group to find the existence of metaphorical expressions in a sentence. The mapping method from Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) is used to determine the source domain and the target domain. The researcher found two results in analyzing the conceptual metaphor in the TV series Siren, seasons 2 and 3. First, the researcher found 68 conceptual metaphors in the TV series Siren seasons 2 and 3. The data were classified into three types: 35 data of structural metaphors, 27 ontological metaphors, and six orientation metaphors data. Second, the researcher can conclude that structural metaphor is the most dominant type of conceptual metaphor in the TV series Siren seasons 2 and 3.
