Abstract

This study aims to analyze the self-reflection of the psychological views contained in the song “Hope is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have” by Lana Del Rey. There are two problems analyzed in this study. The first problem is the self-reflection in the lyrics of the song. The second is the message contained in the song’s lyrics. The writer uses Psychoanalytic theory by Freud and Objective theory by Abrams as references to help and support this study. This study is qualitative research using papers, books, journal articles, internet articles, and theses as sources of support. The data collection technique is by using reading and note-taking procedures. This study shows that the song “Hope is a Dangerous Thing for Woman Like Me to Have” is a form of self-reflection by Lana Del Rey with her struggle to achieve the life she has dreamed of all along. The writer also discovers the importance of self-reflection in life and proves that hope is not dangerous for anyone.
