Abstract
ABSTRACT UD Bejo Jatiwangi is a small-scale industry that specializes in crafting a variety of wooden door handles. Between May and September 2023, the company manufactured a total of 1900 door handles, out of which 338 were found to be defective, resulting in an 18% defect rate. The defects observed included cracks, uneven surfaces, and faded colors. The primary aim of the study is to minimize the number of defective products by implementing the Six Sigma and Seven Tool methodologies. Quality control measures involve the application of Six Sigma's DMAIC approach and the Seven Tools, which encompass check sheets, histograms, scatter diagrams, control charts, stratification, Pareto diagrams, and fishbone diagrams. Following data analysis, the calculated DPMO (defects per million opportunities) was 1016388.89, corresponding to a sigma value of 3.06. The fishbone diagram identifies various factors contributing to product defects, such as human error, machinery issues, method inefficiencies, raw material quality, and environmental conditions. Recommendations for improvement include providing training and education on production processes for employees, conducting regular checks on wood quality, performing weekly equipment maintenance, and establishing specific Standard Operating Procedures for each stage of the production process. Keywords: Door Handles, Quality, Six Sigma, Seven Tools.
