Abstract

Critical discourse is an interdisciplinary teaching process or an approach that involves more than one discipline to understand a context or a phenomenon. This study aims to find indications of three main categories based on Sara Mills' perspective analysis theory and the positioning of women as subjects and objects in the Enola Holmes 2 script. This Critical Discourse study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to represent the imagery of women in the Enola Holmes 2 movie script. The data collection method used by the writer is based on Sara Mills' feminist theory, also known as Sara Mills' Feminist Perspective. This theory states three main analyses, namely: Word category analysis, phrase or sentence category analysis, and discourse category analysis. In addition, the author found how women are positioned in the dialogue of the film script displayed in the dialogue of actors and actresses in the film script, where women as objects are displayed in the dialogue of actors who define, describe, position and even represent women as passive, gender-biased, and discriminated. Then, women are positioned as subjects in the script dialog by actresses who try to fight patriarchal domination, the absence of opportunities to voice and show the rights and abilities they have as women.
