Abstract
This study aims to analyze the sufferings faced by the women characters in The Woman Destroyed by Simone de Beauvoir and the effects of these sufferings. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data is collected through observation and note-taking, with the primary source being the novel and secondary sources including other books and journals. The research identifies two types of suffering the women characters face: domestic and non-domestic. Moreover, the three main women characters experience both types of suffering, leading to insecurity, anxiety, emotional distress, and desperation. The study concludes that these significant sufferings have serious effects on the characters. The researcher encourages readers to gain a deeper understanding of women's literature and suggests that future research continue to explore this topic.
