Abstract
This study explores the framing of political news by CNNIndonesia.com during February 2025, with a particular focus on the coverage of the #IndonesiaGelap movement and related government policies. Employing Robert Entman's framing theory and Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis, this research investigates how CNNIndonesia.com selects, emphasizes, and constructs narratives around political events to shape public opinion. The findings reveal that CNNIndonesia.com systematically highlights government achievements, such as high public satisfaction and policy successes, using positive and moralistic language to reinforce legitimacy. Conversely, public protests and criticismespecially those linked to budget cuts in education and social welfare-are acknowledged but often reframed within narratives that stress dialogue, optimism, and national unity, thereby containing dissent. The study also demonstrates a consistent pro-government ideological stance, as official statements and elite perspectives are privileged while oppositional voices are marginalized. These framing practices not only influence public perception but also contribute to the consolidation of executive power and the normalization of elite consensus in Indonesia's democratic context. The research underscores the importance of critical media literacy and pluralism to ensure a more balanced and participatory democratic discourse.
