Abstract
This study aimed to analyze code-switching in one episode of the Diary Misteri Sara program on Sara Wijayanto's YouTube channel, featuring Cindy Kaza and Mongol Stress. The study objectives are to identify the types and functions of codeswitching in the interaction between the Diary Misteri Sara team and their collaborators. This study uses a qualitative method to describe code-switching in the episode. The researcher conducted a classification and analysis based on theories of Stockwell (2002) on types of code-switching and Gumperz's (1982) on its function. As a result, there were 218 code-switching data found categorized into three types: tag switching, 24 data (10.55%), inter-sentential switching, 41 data (18.81%), and intra-sentential switching, 154 data. (70.64%). In terms of function, six categories were found: quotation, 2 data (0.92%), addressee specification 32 data (14.68%), interjection, 23 data (10.55%), reiteration, 22 data (10.09%), message qualification, 26 data (11.93%), and personalization versus objectification, 113 data (51.83%). The most dominant type is intra-sentential switching, while the most frequently used function is personalization versus objectification. These findings provide insight into the patterns and functions of code-switching that occurred in the context of cross-language interactions in the episode.
