Abstract
This study aims to analyze the language varieties used by several communities in social media on a Twitter account to communicate with each other. This study has two objectives: 1) to analyze what languages are used when communicating, and 2) to analyze the function of the language varicties used. This study is a qualitative descriptive study and the writer used sociolinguistic studies and communicative competence theory as the basis for theory and analysis. In conducting the study, the writer used a qualitative approach. Research data collected through three methods, the writer used observation techniques, take notes, and documents to collect research data. The writer found three language varieties used by NCT 127 and fans when they interact on Twitter, namely English, Korean, and Japanese. The use of language varieties in these interactions shows functions consisting of social functions, social interactions, cultural identity, and communication functions.
