Abstract
This final project report was prepared to highlight the importance of goods receiving systems and procedures in enabling retail companies to operate more efficiently, particularly in maintaining stock accuracy and facilitating smooth sales processes. This topic was chosen because goods receiving procedures are a crucial initial step in the inventory management cycle. Errors in this process can impact financial reports, stock levels, and customer service. This report aims to identify, explain, and evaluate the goods receiving system and procedures at Karita Taman Siswa Store. The study was conducted through observations and interviews at the store. Overall, the report covers the company description, systems, and goods receiving procedures. This process involves multiple parties, including sales associates, supervisors, store administration, floor leaders, and the accounting department, as well as the use of the MPOS system to record incoming goods. The process begins with ordering, followed by document and physical inspections, recording in the system, and finally arranging the goods on the store display. The evaluation results indicate that, although the system operates smoothly, task allocation still faces issues due to the absence of a dedicated warehouse department, resulting in overlapping roles, particularly among floor leaders. The findings suggest that a more distinct organisational structure is necessary for warehouse functions, and a standardised form for physical goods inspection is required to enhance the goods receiving process, making it more efficient, accurate, and well-documented. It is hoped that these findings will help store management improve their operational systems.
