Supervised by Dr. Adnan Zaid, M.Sc. ABSTRACT This study entitled The Effectiveness of Using Poster Presentation to Teach Speaking is aimed at finding out whether teaching speaking by using poster presentation was effective. This study was conducted in two cycles that consist of four phases in each cycle; plan, action, observe, and reflect. The data collecting techniques that used were test, interview and observation. The test was used to get quantitative data while the interview and observation were used to gather qualiative data. The result of the study shows that teaching speaking by using poster presentation was effective. It can be seen from the progress in each cycle. In pre-test the students’ mean score was 59.04. It showed that the students’ speaking ability was still low. In post-test 1, the students got a better mean score. It was 67.85. It shows an improvement compared to the previous session. In post-test 2, the students’ mean score improved to 75.00. The atmosphere of the classroom was condusive. The students’ response toward poster presentation based on the interview and observation result showed that they were happy and motivated to learn speaking using poster presentation. Their participation in the learning activity improved, and they were more confident in speaking. Key words: Effectiveness, Poster Presentation, Speaking.
