Utami, Fatmawati Setia. 2018. Implementation of Jumbled-Sentences Technique Toward The Tenth Year Students’ Skill in Writing Report Text at MAN 2 Yogyakarta. Thesis. English Education Department, Faculty of Education, University of Technology Yogyakarta. Advisor: Juhansar, MA. ABSTRACT This research aims to describe the implementation of jumbled-sentences technique, finding out its effectiveness, including factors influencing the tenth-grade students’ skill in writing report text at MAN 2 Yogyakarta in academic year 2018/2019. The researcher conducted this research toward the tenth-grade students of IPA 3 which consisted of 24 students. The research was conducted using classroom action research as the research design where the researcher acted as a teacher. The researcher conducted the action research in two cycles which consisted of four meetings. The researcher used some research instruments as tools to collect qualitative and quantitative data. The results of the research showed how the implementation of jumbled-sentences as a technique toward the students’ skill in writing report text. Furthermore, the results of tests proved that jumbled-sentences technique was effective to improve students’ writing skill in report text. It showed students’ mean from pre-test (3.00), post-test I (3.36), and post-test II (3.78). Moreover, the students’ mean improvement is also showed in percentage about 12% from pre-test to post-test I, and 13% from post-test I to post-test II. In addition, by implementing jumbled-sentences technique, there were some factors influencing students’ skill in writing report text such as lack of vocabulary and information, being afraid in making grammar pattern mistake, understanding and translating words or sentences, and limited classroom for learning-teaching.
