Abstract
This research aims to find the influence of naturalism aspects on character change of Maleficent and Stefan in Maleficent movie. This research is library research which the main data is taken from Maleficent movie script. In this study, the research method is descriptive qualitative. Structuralism approach is used to analyze the main data. Naturalism aspects idea by Vernon Louise Parrington is also used to classify the aspects of naturalism which have the dominant role in Maleficent and Stefan’ character change, while to find out the character of Maleficent and Stefan portrayed in the story, the writer used characterization theory by Joseph Ewen. From this study it is found that Maleficent and Stefan’ character change is influenced by some internal and external forces. The internal forces come from the character’s heredity, instinct, and passion, while the external forces come from the environment and society. The change of Maleficent’ characters is dominantly influenced by pessimism while Stefan’ is dominantly influenced by determinism.
