Abstract
This final paper entitled “A Study of Code Mixing in Hitam Putih Talk Show on Trans 7 is intended to find out the type of code mixing in Hitam Putih talk show on Trans 7 and the probable reasons of using code mixing in Hitam Putih talk show on trans 7. This study is a descriptive qualitative study. The research produces descriptive data in a written form. The object of this study is code mixing in the Hitam Putih talk show on Trans 7. The data collected by writing the transcript of the conversation by Hitam Putih Talk Show. After collecting the data, the writer classified data based on the types of code mixing and the reason why the code mixing is used. The results of analysis are as follows” first, from six types of code mixing based on Soewito’s theory. There are 6 types code mixing used in Hitam Putih talk show. They are the insertion of word (101), the insertion of phrase (28), the insertion of hybrid (11), the insertion of reduplication (1), the insertion of idiom (1) and the insertion of clause (70). Second, the probable reasons for using code mixing are being no suitable translation in Indonesian, situation, and to be more impressive Key words: Hitam Putih, code mixing
